Sunday Smorgasbord

Hey there, bloggy world! It has been FOREVER since I blogged. I feel like there is so much to tell you! Since Michelle over at Fabulous in First has created the most perfect linky party for how my summer teacher brain works, I must link up! I think you should too!

1.) I have been working in my classroom for about a week now, and I am extremely excited that it is almost finished. Seriously. It'll be finished by this week. I will definitely post some photos soon!

2.) I have some breaking news. It's pretty wild. Are you ready? I am moving from 5th grade down to 2nd grade this year! Sheww! What a difference, right? I am so excited to be with the little guys this year. It is going to be FABULOUS. A former principal of mine always said he sees me teaching 2nd grade and loving it. So I am excited to give it a whirl!

3.) I have been reading Chris Biffle's Whole Brain Teaching for Challenging Kids (and the rest of your class too!)

Last summer I went to the WBT conference up in Ohio. It rocked my world and I was just excited to come back to the classroom and use it. My kiddos loved WBT and I loved that it reached all types of learners. Very cool. So, this summer I am reading this book to refresh my memory of topics covered at the conference but also gain some insight on new ideas! If you haven't already done so, I dare ya to do some WBT reading this summer. You'll be glad that you did.

Ok, my people. I must go now. But I will definitely make time to update this blog a little more often. As far as TPT goes, I have several Social Studies writing units in the works for 4th and 5th grade so I will still post those. They are really great and my Economics writing unit was such a hit, I thought I would still carry on with my other topics. :)

Good night ya'll and make sure you go link up with Fabulous in First!

  2. That was one of the books on my summer reading list! I just finished The Leader in Me. Next up are Teach Like a Pirate and The Next Step in Guided Reading. I hope I can fit WBT in before school! http://findingthejoyinteaching.blogspot.com/
